Meet Our Staff

Ino Alarcon was born in Mexico and came to the United States around 1980. She now lives in Illinois. Ino started attending classes at Stateline Literacy Council in 1994. After a couple of years, she began working at the literacy council as a bilinguals assistant.
Nancy DeGeorge graduated from Colorado College with a history degree and her teaching certification. She received Broadfield Social Studies and ESL teaching certifications from Beloit College. Nancy taught social studies at Brother Dutton School ( Beloit, WI) and ESL at Parker High School ( Janesville, WI). She volunteered at Stateline Literacy Council as a tutor beginning in August of 2001 and has taught the morning ELS classes since June 2003. Nancy is married, has three sons, and six grandchildren.
Ruth Lyons has enjoyed teaching at Stateline Literacy Council for more than four years. She wanted to be a teacher ever since she was in kindergarten! Ruth was born and raised in Beloit, Wisconsin and during college, became involved in the ministry. Ruth has been married to her husband John for over twenty-five years.
Cecilia Ramírez has worked at Stateline Literacy Council since 2002. She began working with child care and then moved to the data entry position. She has been married since 1995 and is the mother of two beautiful children, ten and eight years old. Cecilia graduated from a secretarial school in Mexico. She studied English as a Second Language for about five years through the Even Start Program. Being bilingual allows her to help people, which she loves to do. Cecilia helps a group of Mexican Dancers and is a leader of Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops from the Even Start Program, in addition to being a coach’s assistant in the YMCA soccer league. Cecilia is also an active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, where she also volunteers
Cindy To grew up in Lake Geneva and Clinton, WI. She and her husband, of over sixteen years, are raising their three children here in Beloit, WI. Cindy has helped people learn English since she was a teenager and is also involved with volunteer Bible education. She worked at Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) #2 and co-owned and operated Orient X-Press, a Chinese restaurant, for ten years before joining Stateline Literacy Council in the summer of 2006. Cindy looks forward to helping people learn to speak English and improve their lives here at the Stateline.
